WHO We Are

We are a group of medical students in Miami, Florida working in conjunction with the non-profit organization, Projects for Haiti Inc., to organize a volunteer medical mission trip to Cap-Haitian. Haiti is a country plagued by hardships and most of the population lack access to adequate health care. The Haitian medical students coordinating this trip were inspired by their firsthand experience in Haiti. Our medical trip aims to provide initial health screening and basic health education to an underserved community. We plan on being in Haiti the week of our spring break to assist in medical care alongside a physician; we will provide services such as physical examinations, health and hygiene education, and distribute desperately needed over the counter medication. Haiti has some of the most dismal statistics regarding cholera, malaria, chikungunya, diabetes and hypertension. Therefore the goal of our trip is to work with Projects for Haiti in reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with these illnesses in the rural community. Projects for Haiti has an established sustainable relationship with the local underserved population in St. Michel, Haiti. They have seen over 100 patients per day in previous trips.

Your funds will go entirely toward hiring a local physician, buying medical supplies as well as over the counter medication for our medical mission trip. We are paying for our flight and lodging out of pocket because we have the desire to assist in any way possible. However, the additional cost of purchasing medical supplies and over the counter medication is proving to be a financial burden. We count on your generosity to help us deliver much needed care to a population deprived of adequate care in this concerted effort by Haitian medical students, their American colleagues and Projects for Haiti Inc. Anything donated will make a tremendous difference as we strive to improve the lives of many.
